Privacy Policy
Kontours is a puzzle game. We collect as little as possible to run the game, improve puzzle difficulty, and understand how people play. We do not sell your data or use third-party advertising trackers.
What We Collect
When you play Kontours, we may record gameplay data that is not linked to an account, such as:
- Your guesses and which puzzle they relate to
- Whether your guess was correct
- How many lines were revealed when you guessed
- Which game mode you were playing
This helps us improve puzzle difficulty and may eventually power features like “common wrong guesses” or “other players also guessed this.” Please do not type personal information into guesses.
Playing Without an Account
You can currently play Kontours without:
- An account
- A login
- An email address
If we add optional accounts, subscriptions, or other features that involve an email address or login, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or when those features launch.
What We Don’t Collect
Kontours does not collect precise location data.
We do not use third-party advertising or marketing trackers.
Local Storage
Kontours stores a small amount of data in your browser’s local storage to remember things like preferences, streaks, mode settings, onboarding messages already seen, and basic game progress.
This local storage is used to make the game work better on your device. Clearing your browser storage may reset your preferences, streak, or saved progress.
Third-Party Services
We use Supabase to store gameplay data and support game features. Supabase is a third-party database and backend provider. Supabase may process data according to its own privacy, security, and data-processing terms.
We currently use Google Fonts to serve typefaces. When fonts are loaded from Google, your browser may send request information, such as your IP address and browser details, to Google. Google’s privacy policy applies to those font requests.
If we add additional services, such as analytics, payment processing, accounts, remote rooms, or email updates, we will update this Privacy Policy.
Children and Junior Kontours
Junior Kontours is designed as a kid-friendly experience. We aim to avoid collecting personal information from children, including names, emails, public usernames, chat messages, or precise location.
Junior mode collects no additional data beyond basic gameplay data unless stated otherwise. Players should not type personal information into guesses.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to Kontours, please contact us and we will review and delete it where appropriate.
How We Use Gameplay Data
We may use gameplay data to:
- Run the game
- Improve puzzle difficulty
- Understand which puzzles are too easy or too hard
- Improve accepted answers
- Build future gameplay features
- Fix bugs and technical issues
- Create aggregate statistics, such as common wrong guesses
We do not use gameplay data to build advertising profiles.
Feedback and Contact Forms
If you contact us, report a bug, suggest a pack, or send feedback, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your message and email address. We use this information only to respond, improve Kontours, and manage support or feedback.
Please do not send sensitive personal information through feedback forms.
Data Retention
We keep gameplay and feedback data only as long as reasonably needed to operate Kontours, improve the game, troubleshoot issues, and maintain useful gameplay statistics.
If accounts or paid features are added later, data retention may change and this Privacy Policy will be updated.
Your Choices
You can play Kontours without creating an account. You can also clear local storage through your browser settings, though doing so may reset preferences, streaks, and saved progress.
If you have questions or want to request deletion of information you provided through feedback or contact forms, please contact us.
Changes
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the date at the top of the page. Continued use of Kontours after changes means you accept the updated policy.
